Red Hook Film Festival
The 2011 Red Hook Film Festival is coming up this weekend on October 15th and 16th! As usual, all of our screenings are free, we will have free popcorn and free Steve’s Key Lime Pies, and our Festival Party will be on Saturday evening at 6pm at Sunny’s Bar. Our 5th annual festival includes stories from Brooklyn and beyond, with films about barges, bike races, artists and students in Red Hook, and much more. The Red Hook Film Festival takes place at the Brooklyn Waterfront Artist Coalition (BWAC) screening room, which is located inside a Civil War era warehouse at 499 Van Brunt Street on the waterfront of Red Hook, Brooklyn. Soundwaves: A Mural Under the BQE Dedication and Reception
Join us to celebrate and dedicate a community mural by artist Ellie Balk. This Sunday, 3:30pm, there will be a dedication, ribbon cutting and a piano performance. This will be held at the mural site, underneath the BQE at Park Avenue between Steuben and Grand. This is followed by a reception at 4:30pm at The Emerson, 561 Myrtle Avenue.

ISB Fall Festival
The International School of Brooklyn is having a Fall Festival this Saturday October 15th. There will be music, puppets, arts and crafts, a bake sale and more! The Festival is located at ISB, 477 Court Street at Nelson. 11am to 2pm. Raindate is October 16th.

Brooklyn Flea + Smorgasburg
On Saturday, the Flea is held at 176 Lafayette Ave. (between Clermont + Vanderbilt Avenues) in Fort Greene. On Sunday, the Flea will be at 27 North 6th Street (between Kent Avenue + East River). And on Saturday we also hold Smorgasburg, at the same Williamsburg location. Come join us – and all our food, antique, vintage and art vendors – this weekend. Flea: 10am to 5pm, Smorg: 9am to 5pm. Always free.

Children’s Concert at the Putnam Triangle Plaza

Jon Sampson will be performing live in the new Putnam Triangle Plaza at Fulton Street and Grand Avenue. This free event is presented by the Fulton Area Business (FAB) Alliance as part of FAB FRIDAYS. Gowanus Open Studios
A community gets the art it deserves. Here, it’s the 15th annual Gowanus Open Studios (presented by AGAST). 135 artists. 32 sites. October 15th & 16th Noon-6:00, 2011. In the intimacy of our workspaces, visitors to this free event meet Brooklyn artists, buy art, and watch art being made. Our studios are in industrial buildings, garages, brownstones and warehouses. We paint, sculpt, install, photograph, draw, print, video, mix media, and throw clay. At the Brooklyn Artists Gym, 168 7th St. More information here.
