As Eater noted yesterday, Diner, the restaurant that put Williamsburg on the culinary map when it launched in 1999, is getting makeover. On the outside at least. Almost a century after the structure was built, the faux brick siding has been removed so that the rotted wood behind it can be repaired. Once that’s done, the owners tell us, a new wooden facade almost identical to the original one from the 1920’s will be built.
