Our masked correspondent is back with some musings on commercial real estate in Brooklyn… Waiting for Godot – when will for The Bible and Tract Society of New York (Jehovah’s Witnesses) put their big buildings and development sites on the market? Dozens of eager buyers with tons of cash are seeking BKLYN sites and face very little to buy. We think the Society will see how their current smaller props now on the market—like the ones recently listed—do, then…? Huge activity on same in Columbia Heights.

We breathlessly await Shake Shack opening. Close. Let’s see how they compare with Smashburger at 80 DeKalb, our current fav burger in DTB (DoBro). Five Guys tops on fries, Shake on shakes yet burgers are the test match.

One Girl Cookies a surprise in Dumbo, as landlord not done new food deal for years. Cookies’ Dean Street store is fun. One Main shop will dovetail nicely with Almondine.

August and so far in September slow on new larger office tenants coming into the market, though smaller space seekers abound. Way more small tenants (under 2000 sf) than spaces, just like the retail market dynamic that begun last year.

Former Beastly Bite shop steps from Trader Joe’s being expanded in the back as the Wine Store space was. We hear on the street that J. Crew is the tenant playing with the space. Hope they sign.
