In a House of the Day post a couple of weeks ago, we wrote that we would “eat our hat–along with all the caviar we’ll be able to afford after selling our own house around the corner based on this as a comp,” if 87 Cambridge Place fetched its asking price of $2,050,000. This wasn’t taking anything away from the house, which is lovely, it was merely recognizing that getting close to $650 a foot for a townhouse east of Washington Avenue would be, we think, unprecedented. But it sounds like we may be on track for that to happen: According to a comment that the listing broker made on Facebook yesterday, reaching $2 million mark may not be out of the question. Then again, it wouldn’t be the first time the veteran Fort Greene-Clinton Hill brownstone broker had surprised on the upside. Speaking of Facebook, if you “like” the Brownstoner.com page, you’ll see all blog posts in your News Feed.
