This stretch of Hancock Street has some of the most stellar and varied architecture in Bed Stuy. The townhouses that line the block are big on ornamentation, like 273 Hancock. The highlights, however, are the Romanesque Revival building at 237 Hancock Street, the Montrose Morris-designed Neo-Renaissance home at 247 Hancock (aka The Queen of Hancock Street, which is now a B&B), another Montrose Morris Romanesque beauty at 246-252 Hancock Street, and then finally the freestanding mansion on the corner of Hancock and Marcy. Sadly this block is not yet landmarked, but it is part of the proposed Bedford Corners Historic District.
