Williamsburg
A Rooftop Films event was shut down in the Burg, writes Gothamist, after a dispute with NYPD over liquor consumption. A few patrons were also given summons, despite Rooftop Films holding a liquor license. As Rooftop Films says: “Rooftop Films events are always legal, safe and permitted. In 15 years of hosting public events, we have never had a show stopped in the middle due to any violations, and are disappointed at the occurrence on June 23, 2011.” Meanwhile, Thought Catalog categorizes Williamsburg as “a world of fried chicken at 3am, rare burgers with extra crispy bacon, 3 dollar Buds and shuffleboard.” (They’re talking about The Commodore.) Finally, we noticed signage for “Japanese and Pan-Asian Cuisine Lounge” at the ground-floor of 475 Driggs (pictured).

Park Slope
FIPS reports the bad news that Tonios, a Slope Italian joint in the nabe for 19 years, has closed. From FIPS: “A tipster informed us that Tonio’s health has been failing of late, and that this contributed to his decision to shut the place down.” A rumor is out the restaurant will become a Dunkin Donuts. Another Slope mainstay, David’s Laundry, just closed, reports HPS. Pur Bird, the restaurant coming to the charming storefront on 6th and St. Marks, will be all chicken all the time. Faros, the Greek spot, is officially open on 7th Avenue and Cozbi, a boutique expanding from Cobble Hill, is coming to 351 5th Avenue.
