More Bike Lanes Proposed for Downtown Brooklyn

Yesterday The Local wrote about CB2’s proposal to DOT to install one bike lane on Rockwell Place between DeKalb Avenue and Lafayette Street and another on Ashland between DeKalb and Hanson Place. From the story: “Those two lanes would connect the Ashland Place and DeKalb Avenue bike lanes with the Schermerhorn Street-Lafayette Avenue bike lane. The extension of the Ashland Place route would also allow residents to pedal their way to Atlantic Terminal.” Ideally the lanes would coordinate with the current repaving of Ashland. The proposal was approved by CB2 to submit to DOT for review.

This kind of bike lane especially, costs no more than a few gallons of paint, and a sign change or two.
And I believe, they are typically funded by the feds to the tune of 80% or so.
