Something’s afoot at 400 McGuinness Boulevard in Greenpoint, where New York Shitty noticed work under way at the site of a proposed 200-bed men’s intake center. (This plan surfaced after another shelter withdrew its proposal in February.) She says: “Powers-that-be at 400 McGuinness have one valid permit on file with Department of Buildings; it is for plumbing work and removing load-bearing walls…. However, they appear to be doing a lot more than that.” There are several photos posted of refrigerators being loaded into the building, despite the fact that the DOB disapproved an application to convert the existing space into a shelter. As New York Shitty has been documenting, residents are no more thrilled about this proposed shelter than the one that was floated before it.
