  1. I just came down from upstate for overnight. Ready to go back already. They are putting up scaffolding across street at school – I assume for 1 of those periodic facade inspection……can’t believe how noisy.
And just got email from tenant that bathroom sink is clogged draining slowly…..I just had plumber here less than year ago for same problem….what the eff can they be doing to clog it again. I’m livid and want to tell him to call a plumber himself and pay for it.

  2. I still say it is this mediterranean/middle-east culture and never believed these europeans were sexually liberated and we are hung-up as many people claim.
As in middle-east where women are killed for dishonoring family. This not as extreme but aspects of same mentality.

  3. This DSK thing continues to amaze me – from the perspective of DSK himself – like didn’t the man know where he was, how could he do that and then call the hotel for his phone?. Doesn’t he know the first thing about the US. Did he really thing he would get away with that? This seems also to be his MO. It seems like powerful men can get away with misbehavior pretty easily over there.

The thing that really slays me is the reaction of the French public. They are all traumatized; this big man was felled by something nobody seems to take seriously. It had to be a setup or the woman had to want him. And the horrible Americans perp walking him around; how inferior we are with this primitive system whereby we perp walk men who haven’t yet been tried. No concern whatsoever for the maid. “Nobody died” said one radiobroadcaster. Blaming the maid for going into the room alone (????). They have all enabled him, all along. He has complaints as long as your arm, but in the end women flake on their compalaints.

  4. The United States Chess Federation (USCF) awards the Title of National Master to anyone who achieves a USCF rating of 2200, and the title of Senior Master to anyone who achieves a USCF rating of 2400. Basically he was a little kid who was pit against other world ranked players and won. He travelled all over the world to play in tournaments as a kid playing top ranked players. The ranking number relates to some metric measuring the wins and skill of those you beet. He was a little Pointexter.

  5. A old boyfriend of mine had Asperger’s, I am sure of it. I never knew that term but when I read about it some time after we parted, I realized that that was what he had. He was a child chestmaster, traveling all around the world, winning tournaments. He was a trader at a tony institution trading bonds, watching the screen all day and doing arbitrage. But he was very stiff with people and I was his “agent” so to speak, his intermediary with complicated social stuff, his earth link. He had a handful of close friends who understood him and were cool with his quirks. He is amazingly smart – he has a memory that was like a computer, he never seemed to forget anything.
