The project on 4th Avenue between 7th and 8th streets continues to rise rapidly: The development, which new-building permits were issued for last fall, looks like it’s close to reaching its full height of 11 stories. The building will eventually have 17 units.

  1. This building had a large internal collapse yesterday Mon May 23, 2011. The outer shell still ok so could not see what was going on but the school crossing guard said it was loud.

About a dozen fire trucks were there for several hours, with police cars. Fourth Avenue was closed the whole time.

I am much disturbed by the low quality of some of these buildings. This one has been going up very fast, and now it seems it is not safe.

The Nova at 3rd and 4th streets is ugly as all get out, a real shame. Pieces of the facade were popping off just before they opened it. Those blue panels look like Board of Ed construction rejects. Nothing nice about the building at all. The logo on the side of the building was styrofome made to look like stone. You could see the material when it started to chip off. I think they removed them finally.

    It is just so tacky.
