There hasn’t been a whole lot of discernible exterior progress on the development at Lorraine and Hicks in Red Hook since September, though contractors are doing something at the site. All that’s known about this mysterious project comes from DOB filings, which say the Lorraine side (top pic) is supposed to have 15 units, while the Hicks side is meant to have 8.

  1. I kind of like the design, and I live in Red Hook, but this is one of the WORST locations possible. I wouldn’t live there. It’s on a totally “non-gentrified” block. There was a stabbing down the block last weekend, and it’s always noisy on Lorraine.

I remember some low income housing in Jersy City contstructed along this bold and playful vein, but with very poor materials and no upkeep standards and no landscaping. It won a bunch of architectural awards when it first went up and now it looks like a slum.

my home town!!! i’d wager a guess that it looks like a slum cuz, well, people let it turn into a slum. not just the residents, per se.. where in jersey city btw?
