There hasn’t been a whole lot of discernible exterior progress on the development at Lorraine and Hicks in Red Hook since September, though contractors are doing something at the site. All that’s known about this mysterious project comes from DOB filings, which say the Lorraine side (top pic) is supposed to have 15 units, while the Hicks side is meant to have 8.

I kind of like the design, and I live in Red Hook, but this is one of the WORST locations possible. I wouldn’t live there. It’s on a totally “non-gentrified” block. There was a stabbing down the block last weekend, and it’s always noisy on Lorraine.

If you want to see this in JC get into Google Street view, use York Street and Colgate as a starting point and then travel SE down York.
FUGLY – I think it belongs in Jersey City right next to the couple of blocks of these ‘shirt’ boxes that are already there. Built as urban renewal in the poorer neighborhoods. Crapola.

That’s more like it! Not every detail sings but, overall, this has energy and punch.
I think this looks cool. Not all buildings need to look like they are 130 years old.
I think it looks like a bunch of shipping containers stacked on each other. If FCR is leading edge, I guess this is too.
