Remember yesterday when we were saying there weren’t many options for buyers who wanted a modern townhouse in Brooklyn? Well, maybe the options aren’t that limited after all: In addition to yesterday’s State Street pad, this recently renovated house at 409 8th Street in Park Slope just hit the market and it’s all modern, all the time. Just don’t let your kids get a look at the children’s room complete with double bed and flat screen TV or they’ll never get off your back! Asking price is $3,195,000, which we can only assume would be a record for this block, especially for what is essentially three-story house.

  1. At the end of the day it’s a narrow, three story house and they are out of their mind at this price. Does this mean that 4 story renovated Park Slope townhouses are now $4,000,000 – haven’t seen too many of those. I don’t care how thin the inventory is, for 3 million you can buy a whole lot more house in nicer areas. Buy the gut reno available on Berkeley, put in a million and you’ll have a bigger house in a better area for $500,000 less.

  2. “Taste specific” is right. And specific to a recent era in taste too; it’s already dated. I don’t like this house and I’m not only fine with modern interiors in historic houses I often defend them. There are much much much better modern interiors than this one around Brooklyn. I think for this money people who want a modern interior will install it themselves.

  3. You’d keep the fingerprints off the glass wall by never, ever touching the glass wall! Unlikely there will be little kids living here to worry about, without major renovations, as the floorplan looks like it lacks a bathtub anywhere. (They’d have to put a kiddie swimming pool in the shower for a tub as it is.) Even those who like modern might want to get rid of that glass wall.

    bessie – I think the wealthy come in various kinds, just like the non-wealthy. Some would pay 3 mil and spend a hunk more to rip out; others would only spend more prudently and buy a 3 mil place they already liked – a better buy, financially. Others would buy a cheaper place to begin with, and save those bucks.
