The Real Deal has a story about how the long-stalled development at 340 Court Street is “in doubt” because its developer, The Clarett Group, has shut down its New York office and the firm’s founder has left the firm. Sources told the mag that 340 Court’s future is “unclear,” while its architect said “the project was in ‘transition’ and details would be coming soon.” Clarett’s plans for 340 Court, which was dubbed “The Collection at Court Street,” involved the construction of townhouses and condos. Speculation about whether the company had financing for the development has been in the air for quite awhile.

I hope someone takes over the property and the design. I have never seen the new design, and I love it! It is a good contemporary take on row houses, and the scale is right for the neighborhood.
What I hate is the empty hole and decrepit construction fencing.
I’d still prefer a building of some use (I know most people thought it very ugly!) over a gigantic hole in the ground. Since Clarett started this, I hope someone takes it over. Of course the neighbors might not, because living through construction like that is a nightmare.

WHA?! I didn’t know this was that stalled… Well, this should be interesting. If nothing else, everyone should be happy they got rid of that ugly ass asbestos filled thing that was there before.
If someone takes over the project will the “precedent” of the planning approval be enough the let them build a similar complex without much resistance? (if they decide to change the design)
Or would they have to start from scratch?
So they demolished a perfectly unattractive office building for nothing?
