While the DOB has rejected a first iteration of plans for a new building on the southwest corner of 4th Avenue and 3rd Street, the mere fact that the property’s owners are looking to construct something is noteworthy. The present owners of the long-blighted lot tried selling it off a couple years ago, and at one point a rumor was circulating that a Starbucks would come to the corner. Assuming the DOB does eventually sign off on plans, it will be interesting to see what sort of tenant is going to join the Pep Boys-Staples mix here.
