170-bedford-020811.jpgRemember 170 Bedford, a biggest sale in November that went for $1,900,000? That’s the new spot for the Lower East Side’s popular Meatball Shop, which the NY Times mentioned shortly after the property was bought. CB1 reviewed the liquor license application last night and the community board recommended approval. A few more facts about the space: It’s set to include a sidewalk cafe, backyard seating and a bar. The backyard hours of operation were asked to be capped by CB1, but all other plans were given a thumbs-up. Brooklyn Paper also wrote an article this morning about the much lauded meatballs. With the recent expansion of Crif Dogs, also on Bedford Avenue, Williamsburg and the East Village are looking more and more similar these days… GMAP

  1. I ate at the EV Meatball Shop recently (we just happened to be hungry and nearby)… the wait was pretty long, and the place was jammed, but the food was good. And, it wasn’t expensive- I actually expected it to cost more, which never happens.
I rarely eat in W’burg, but I think this place makes sense there.

  2. the more douchey places that open on Bedford, the easier it is to avoid douchebags, since they’ll all be in the same place.

if only someone had warned me two saturdays ago that union hall if filled with douchebags on Saturday nights
