How’s it going at 221 Washington, a fishscale-shingled house in its past life that’s now being rebuilt? Not bad! Two months after we last checked, the building has windows in place. Can’t wait to see how the facade will turn out.

  1. I think this is just great. I don’t know why all these people are complaining so much. I’m sure there are improvements that could be made but I thank god this is the type of building being rebuilt and not some hideous glass box that will 5x more expensive. Knit-pick all you want. I’m happy

  2. I walk by this everyday, and it’s been usually busy with construction at all hours. I don’t have high hopes for it but at least the bay is present. The brownstone next door is also getting some repair work on it’s basement level.

Here’s hoping it isn’t the eyesore on my walk back from the G in the coming months. This is really a lovely stretch of architecture, a nice blend of everything. This could be the first modernist to ruin it.
