This co-op at 125 Ashland Place on the Fort Greene/Downtown Brooklyn border won’t win any point for sexiness but it should rate pretty well for value. It’s a fair-sized one bedroom with a traditional layout and a nice wall of windows in the living room. (We wish there were photos of the kitchen and bathroom.) The maintenance is not going to break the bank at $671 a month and the asking price of $315,000 also doesn’t seem bad either, though if we were in the market for this sort of place we’d probably opt for the Clinton Hill Co-ops over this complex based on location alone.

  1. @ANV10802 and Tallulah, we just looked at an apartment, it wasn’t fancy, but it was pretty solid construction and had lots of space. The maintenance also seemed pretty good. What is the situation with the elevators during peak times? How is this area at night? We tend to work late hours, so I’d like to know some inside information about that. Thanks!

  2. I have a friend who lives here and I was surprised at her spacious apartment and great location, I absolutely love. I am trying to get my roommate to move to Brooklyn and this is definetely where I would go!!

  3. I’m a resident of Kingsview and have to say it is a shame that there are so many negative comments. I love my apt and the natural light you get from the windows was one of the selling points for me as were the five closets (storage, coat, linen, and two full size bedroom closets) in my layout. I almost fell over when I discovered how much space there was during my first walk through. Admittedly my apt was a bit of a fixer upper, but it has worked out great so far. The management and maintenance staff keep the buildings and grounds well maintained and I truly think the board members have the complex’s best interests at heart. I just came back from a shareholders meeting and they are having the entire complex repaved this spring. Are there quirks here and there? Of course! Who doesn’t have them?

Also, regarding the location. We are one block away from the Q, B, R at Dekalb Ave and walking distance to Atlantic Ave station which includes the LIRR and Target. The park is literally directly behind the complex and is perfect for running. BAM is only three blocks away and so are the restaurants on Dekalb, Myrtle and Fulton. I frequently walk straight up Willoughby to Court Street and over to Atlantic Ave to run errands. We are also supposed to be getting a grocery store and drugstore at the corner of Ashland and Myrtle in a few months.

Not really sure what more you could ask for…

If you are looking for a good buy, I think the complex is worth checking out.
