Details on Van Horn Sandwich Joint

We’ve been watching for the opening of Van Horn, the soon-to-be sandwich joint at 231 Court. Well, Carroll Gardens Patch tells us it’s now open and serving southern-style sandwiches like fried chicken, pulled pork and fried catfish. It’ll be open for lunch and dinner and hopefully expand into a breakfast spot. (Van Horn also has a full liquor licence.) Apparently the renovated space, which includes table seating for 20 and a backyard garden, is pretty sleek. Anyone been in yet? Update: Eater has some inside shots.

  • Van Horn has finally opened! I went last night and ate silly! The fish sandwich is fantastic! I’ll definitely be going back!

  • We went yesterday and had a wonderful meal. The fried chicken sandwich was terrific. Far better than Buttermilk Channel’s fried chicken. The seasoning and texture were spot on.
Nice room and vibe, although I thought the lights were a bit too bright. Overall, a great addition to the neighborhood.

  • Van Horn is awesome! Best true southern food I’ve had in Brooklyn (and that’s coming from a southerner). Not to mention the staff and ownership are all about southern hospitality and make you feel right at home. It’s a must try and can’t wait until the backyard opens.
