Checking In On 185 Ocean Avenue

Though just a wee lass when we checked in on her last April, 185 Ocean Avenuewas already showing strong signs of having been hit with the ugly stick. Rising from the ruins of a charming freestanding house (demolished by a developer for its tantalizing FAR), the new structure, though only two of a planned eight stories at the time, was already being a bad neighbor with its aerial land grab over the driveway it shares with the neighbor. Yesterday, the local Prospect Lefferts blog PLOG served up a bunch of photos showing that the building has topped out and expressing concerns for the lack of safety measures on site: “Does this look safe to you? At one point the ladder a worker is standing on folds up sending him to the floor. Things are dropped off the roof on tiny ropes. A worker stands perilously close to the edge without any safety gear. This all while 25 mph freezing winds buffeted the structure.”
