City Point, the 1,500,000-square-foot mixed use project that’s beginning to rise along Flatbush Avenue in Downtown Brooklyn, just launched its new website today. While we posted a couple of weeks ago that the first-phase, a 50,000-square-foot retail building where the entrance to the Albee Square Mall used to be, appeared to be going slowly, it turns out that construction has actually been proceeding steadily, it’s just that there’s a lot of foundation work to be done that you can’t see from the street (no matter how adept a certain blogger might be at finding holes in construction fences). Anyhoo, the new site came bearing gifts in the form of a couple of new renderings of the first retail building, which is being called One Dekalb.

  1. How is the mall not accessible to all income types now? I agree that Macy’s is generally overpriced and some of the sneakers are too much, but there is plenty of mid-range shopping like Children’s Place and Lane Bryant — and Cookie’s is not too bad, but it’s kind of a mess in there and they used to have a ridiculous 7 day return policy.

  2. It was actually the chef’s class (over $100 pp IIRC) at Brooklyn Fare that got 2 stars, not the supermarket itself. (The supermarket does have some tasty food to go but it’s not Michelin-ified.)

  3. I wouldn’t mind any of those moving in there, that would be great to have downtown. Restaurants would be great, maybe something will move on to Willoubhy when they finish the construction on the transit improvements? Didn’t Brookln Fare get a Michilin rating?

  4. This would be a great location for a Bed and Bath. I’ve heard Target, Best Buy and Crate and Barrel circling this spot (the other phases of the building). It’s going to tie together Fulton Street much better with the surrounding areas and make the mall more accessible to all income types. Only question is when to the restaurants come to Downtown?
