The demolition of the old Cold Storage warehouse on Furman Street (now in the footprint of Brooklyn Bridge Park) that began last winter is now complete. All that’s left of the three-building complex is a snarl of rebar and rubble. At some point, this is where the controversial private development that’s supposed to fund part of the park’s upkeep is slated to go.

  1. In a previous life I made deliveries to the cold warehouse.

It was a trip, because there were different tenants in different size spaces, but the entire building was cold, hallways, offices, everything. Everyone wore winter coats, even in the summer when it was hot outside.

Another vestige of industrial Brooklyn bites the dust.

  2. this has really opened up the views from the promenade towards the Bridge. BIG improvement. I understand the new hotel will be considerably lower than the old warehouses and will not impact as dramatically on the view shed.
I don’t think new construction will start any time soon.
