Four years after renting out 18,750 square feet of office space at 205 Montague Street, commercial real estate brokerage Massey Knakal is bailing on its Brooklyn headquarters, we’ve learned. From what we gather, the sellers-only broker never got close to filling the space, so the decision may have been an easy one. When we ran it by the firm, we got a “no comment” back; we also didn’t get a denial. No word on if a new Brooklyn HQ is in the works or whether there will be a retrenching back to Manhattan. (Update: “Massey Knakal has the best commercial agents in Brooklyn and we are enjoying our significant market share. We are 100% committed to having a growing presence in the Brooklyn market. Some interested parties have made proposals to sublet a portion of our space and we are exploring those possibilities, from Executive Officer Paul J. Massey Jr.) GMAP

  1. Buzz i hear is that will sublet all space or maybe if it can work physically stay in a portion of space, like 2000 sf.

Half of space was on market and they have a deal for entire if they want it.

  2. sad to see this happen, some great brokers there and tim and brian built a terrific shop that ken took over….
MK is a victim of the banks, who aren’t lending much at all on commercial, and the Federal bank regulators, who are holding the banks back great bunch of brokers
