At first glance, we were excited to see a brownstone in Fort Greene hit the market for under $1.5 million. Upon closer inspection, however, this place at 176 Adelphi Street (which is asking $1,475,000) is leaving us a little limp. First off, the house is less than 14 feet wide; secondly, the renovation, while thorough, appears to have purged the place of much of its original charm. In this price range, we’d probably still prefer the deeply-flawed but larger and better-preserved 204 Clermont, which we revisited recently.
