Woo hoo! Woo hoo woo hoo! The DD Pool represents my entire summer plan, so I was very bummed. The hard times are coming, but I am glad for the reprieve.
the report is most of the daycare and senior centers were saved. The two in Boerum hill were saved.
I think you’re wrong on the pool opening date. My understanding it is the 29th though it would be great if it were this Sunday. Let us know if you’re right!
Anyone know if the daycare and senior centers got spared as well? I was more worried about them… have a bias, as I know someone who used that day care and loved it.
This is good. The pool is a real favorite in that neighborhod. My kid used to swim here back in the days when I rented on DeGraw St. I at first thought it was awful too, but when I finally took him over there it turned out it’s a pretty nice pool.
Not such great news on libraries, however. Branches were saved but at the cost of one day a week for most of them–which probably means almost no weekend service. Which does preserve access for schoolchildren and the people who most need access to computers, etc., during the week–but limits it greatly for those with jobs, families who like to go together, etc.
while public pools are seriously grody cuz lots of people use them in liu of a shower or bath, it’s definitely good news. keeps the kids out of sight.
*rob*
Definitely good news about the firehouses! The one on Coretelyou and Westminster was apparently on the list… and living a block away, I KNOW they are very very busy. It was shocking to hear they were even being considered!
Good news about the pool too… though, it’s less personally interesting to me. I swim at Norah’s pool.
Good news all around! What a nail-biter, though, sheesh.
