PS 295 (on 18th St. between 6th and 7th Ave) recently undertook the challenge of building an edible garden with help from a Slow Food grant. The goal is to educate every student on where healthy food comes from. This past Monday was also the “Bucket Brigade” where students moved buckets of compost into the newly built beds as younger students cheered them on.
FYI, PS 154 in Windsor Terrace also created an edible garden this year, in fact this week the children will be harvesting their first haul and the PTA has planned a school-wide tasting.
