lunapark-052610.jpgThe clock is ticking at Luna Park in Coney Island, where the Italian amusements company Zamperla is racing to finish its build-out before Saturday’s opening. As you can see from this photo, the rollercoaster (or is it a waterslide) is very much a work in progress. You can see this photo and many more from yesterday in Pablo 57’s Flickr set. If you missed our post on Monday, you can see a rendering of the entrance to the park here.

  1. I was out in Coney Island on Sunday. They have a long way to go, but maybe if most of the rides are fairground-style they’ll make it. There’s alot of work going on by the Parks Dept.on the boardwalk, too. Both jobs had alot of staff working away.

  2. The roller coaster has been there since forever, Rob. It will rattle your spine and rearrange your guts, but it’s tried and true. I don’t know what else they have going on over there.

  3. maybe we are all just used to sloooooow construction these days, but i feel like they are seriously trying to get this done ASAP.. kinda scary, i dont think i wanna be the first one on the roller coaster.. tho i do plan to try it out perhaps this weekend, as long as it’s not like 20 bux to get on, which it probably will be 🙁
