The Great Norah Jones Swimming Pool Build of 2010 is in full swing. This multi-platinum singer will be the envy of her Cobble Hill neighbors when it’s done, but in the meantime she’s not making a lot of friends on her stretch of Amity Street: “The noise has been going on for days at a deafening pitch,” writes the tipster who sent this photo in a few moments ago.

  1. A little late to the party, but as one of those people who plugs his ears when trains go by: you may scoff all you want…but I wont be the guy saying “WHAT?!” all the time later in life due to hearing loss. Them trains is LOUD.

  2. Why not hate her? She sucks. comments of this nature are short of “hate crimes” this should not be allowed in this forum or ant other forum. I find BROWNSTONER a great resource BUT it seems to be riddled with nasty, rude, condescending, vicous comments of a personal nature. As a member I am asking BROWNSTONER to stop these hateful comments they serve no purpose.

  3. can we please, please stop talking about this renovation and getting all up in her business? it’s embarassing and doesn’t reflect well on this site and the neighborhood. i live on this block and none of the renovations have ever caused a serious noise problem.

  4. “This complainer’s probably one of those people who, when standing on the subway platform, has to cover his ears when the trains go by.”

These people are so ANNOYING!! Get an iPod, get out of the City, or get over it already!!

  5. The worse part about living in a nice house in a desirable neighborhood is that you get stuck w/ hyper-sensitive self-centered neighbors who think that they’re entitled to never ever being inconvenienced or bothered by the other people in the neighborhood. Any repair or renovation to one’s home is seen as an affront to their existence and their expectation of uninterrupted peace and tranquility.

How many pools do these fools think Norah Jones is going to put in? The work’s been approved and it’s being done during acceptable business hours – so STFU.

Yes, trucks are annoying and loud and constructions brings dust and burly, swarthy working class men to your precious block, but is it really so beyond these kvetcher’s imaginations that some day they’ll need trucks and workmen to repair-renovate their own homes?

    People suck.
