Address: 75 MacDonough Street, corner of Tompkins Ave.
Name: The Raleigh
Neighborhood: Bedford Stuyvesant (Stuyvesant Heights Historic District)
Year Built: 1902
Architectural Style: Renaissance Revival (Italian Renaissance)
Architect: William Debus
Landmarked: Yes

Why chosen: This has always been one of my favorite apartment buildings in Bed Stuy, one I used to walk by several times a week when I lived in the neighborhood. Debus was a very good architect, and this is a great Renaissance palazzo, with a grand cornice, richly detailed brackets and cartouches, and elegant windows. The building would easily look at home in Paris or Rome. It’s been getting some love lately, with new casement windows , and hopefully, some paint and repair on the way. William Debus designed many fine buildings in Bedford Stuyvesant, Crown Heights North and Park Slope.
