Get ready for the Atlantic Yards-related inconveniences to begin! As Atlantic Yards Report posted yesterday, three streets in the project’s footprint will be closed as of Feburary 1: (1) Pacific between Carlton and Vanderbilt; (2) Pacific between 5th Avenue and 6th Avenue; (3) 5th Avenue between Flatbush and Atlantic Avenues. How is this likely to impact traffic in the area? “Expect a lot more traffic on Sixth Avenue between Flatbush Avenue and Pacific Street, which will become two-way,” says AYR. In addition, points out NY1, the B63 bus stop at Fifth Avenue between Pacific and Atlantic will also be eliminated.

  1. on 6th between flatbush & atlantic – there is a police precinct on the corner of 6th & bergen where the police park EVERYWHERE (sidewalks / cross walks). If they turn that portion of 6th between dean and flatbush into 2 way – where is the man going to park? I dont believe there is enough crosswalks in the area to support their fleet.

  2. MY BUS!!! THEY ARE EFFING WITH MY BUS!!!

That stop on 5th Ave between Pacific and Atlantic is the most convenient to getting to Pathmark/Target/Old Navy. Now I will be forced to get off at Atlantic and 4th, meaning crossing Flatbush Avenue (human frogger anyone?). UGH. Rat bastards.

  3. 4th avenue thru sunset park is a danger zone (double parkers, turning cars crossing traffic)

the lights are timed perfectly along 3rd – I can get thru maybe 14-15 blocks at a constant speed of 40mph. (Yes I do it often enough to have noticed)

  4. You guys live in the boonies 😉
I rarely take the highway. There’s always a jam due to something. I find that third avenue moves a lot faster than 4th ave during non-rush hour times.
