Pretty in Pink Prom

The Bell House and Brooklyn Based are hosting an 80s prom night with DJs, a live 80s cover band – The Engagements, a prom backdrop for picture taking, and FREE snacks. Even a prom king and queen will be chosen. Make Molly Ringwald proud! Saturday, July 11. 8 p.m. $15 in advance, and $20 at the door. 149 7th Street, The Bell House.

Sportacular Family Fitness Fest!
Performances, demonstrations, games, and physical activities from all over the globe are being featured at the Brooklyn Children’s Museum. Enjoy demonstrations by Keenan Special Bristol, Jammin’ Jumpers Double Dutch Team, Beach Tennis USA, and Peter Westbrook Foundation Fencers Club. All programs are included in Museum admission. Saturday and Sunday, July 11 & 12. 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. $7.50 per person. 145 Brooklyn Avenue (corner of St. Marks), Brooklyn Children’s Museum.

Brooklyn Flea
The Brooklyn Flea takes place in Ft. Greene on Saturday and its historic Brooklyn Bridge location on Sunday. Both locations feature a great mix of vintage, antiques, jewelry, and food. Saturday, July 11. 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Bishop Loughlin Memorial High School, Lafayette Avenue between Clermont and Vanderbilt Avenues. Sunday, July 12. 11 a.m. – 6 p.m. In Dumbo underneath the Brooklyn Bridge at the corner of Water and New Dock Street.

Walt Whitman’s Fort Greene Park
Walk about the park and enjoy the afternoon by listening to readings of Whitman and discussions about the park. This event will finish with a walk up Myrtle Avenue to 99 Ryerson Street, Walt Whitman’s residence. Sunday, July 12. 1 p.m. Free. Rain or Shine. Fort Greene Park.

Afro Punk Block Party
This year’s annual Afro Punk Block Party has over 50 vendors offering DIY fashion, accessories, beauty products, and art. There will be plenty of live musicians such as John Forte, Shinobi Ninja, and many more. Sunday, July 12. 12 – 8 p.m. Clinton Ave. btwn Myrtle and Willoughby.

Bar Tabac’s Bastille Day Celebration
The annual pétanque tournament will be held on a sand-filled Smith street along with great music, delicious food, and drinks. Come watch pétanque’s largest North American tournament consisting of over 80 teams.
Sunday, July 12. 12 p.m. – 10 p.m. 128 Smith Street, Bar Tabac.

4th Annual Gender Equality Festival
Celebrate women’s advocacy through the festival’s education, community interaction, music, and art. A Youth Forum will be held to highlight young activists working for equality and health throughout the city. Saturday, July 11. 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Corner of Green Ave. and Fulton St., Cuyler Gore Park.
