We wouldn’t have expected much from a new building in this location, but 552 Lafayette looks pretty nice. The bathrooms are way too trendy for us, but we like the kitchens and the large loft-like windows make the apartments. Most of the 15 units are priced at around $500 a foot, which doesn’t sound like a bargain to us for Bed Stuy, but there have been nibbles: There are accepted offers on two apartments. To try to speed things up, prices on four of the lower-floor units were cut last week, according to data from StreetEasy. Like 229 North 8th Street (another Apts and Lofts project), 552 Lafayette Avenue is FHA-approved and the sponsor will pay up to 5 percent closing costs. There’s an open house tonight and Sunday.
