Trout, the casual Smith Street staple, closed last November. Only, in retrospect, it didn’t close so much as take the winter off. Time Out New York reports that the “poor man’s Gowanus Yacht Club” is re-emerging from hibernation today (something this photo we snapped last night supports) with a similar menu and a different backer. Instead of Jim Mamary writing the checks, his partner in PLG’s Whiskey Sunday, Richard Krause, is where the buck stops (and starts) now at Trout. Nice weather for opening day! GMAP
