Sparks are flying in the wake of Community Board 13’s approval of a slew of zoning recommendations (originally proposed by Councilman Recchia) that are favorable to developer Thor Equities; in fact, The Daily News reports that some of the recommendations match the developer’s suggestions word-for-word. At least Thor is getting its money’s worth: Thor-related entities have spent almost $200,000 on lobbying efforts since 2005. The City is pissed.

Why would the city be so mad, I thought this is how they expect things to function. Kickbacks and “lobbying” are the norm aren’t they? Bloomberg is just a whiner i guess.
I don’t know all the details but restricting stores to 2500 sf is crazy. 10,000 makes much more sense. Isn’t just Thor vs NYC, there are also many other opinions at variance with both or either……
I’ve heard from friends who are involved that Recchia is indeed in Thor’s pocket, and they have worked together for years. I used to respect him but he turns out to be a cheesy pol, same as the rest of them.
