After paying $28 million for the 16,575-square-foot lot with frontage on Flatbush Avenue, Fulton Street and Rockwell Place in November 2007, developer Dermot Company filed an application with DOB to build a 44-story, 333-unit building in July 2008. Just last week, the DOB disapproved the plan, sending the developer and its architect, Ismael Leyva, back to the drawing board. In the meantime, the rendering above was discovered on Dermot’s website by a poster on Wired NY and subsequently picked up by the 110 Livingston blog and then Gowanus Lounge. Perhaps it’s old news and it’s hardly surprising given the current market conditions, but we were interested to learn from the Dermot site that this will definitely be a rental building. It also says that construction is expected to begin this year.

  1. This couldn’t be why there is a massive scaffold over the sidewalk of the entire length of the Forte on Fulton, could it? That was built over a week ago and we can’t figure out why…nothing is going on at the Forte it seems.
