Checking in on 357 15th Street

Turns out, we don’t know much about this building, at 357 15th Street between 7th and 8th Avenues, though readers have asked about it on the Forum. The first new building permit was filed back in 2000, calling for a seven-unit, four-story building. They didn’t get around to filing another until 2005, which added balcony openings to the menu. The architect is Sander Weiss with Gelu-Durus Musica. A search for his name sent us to this list of disciplinary actions: “Fined & surrendered D-14 and professional certification privileges.” Not sure that explains why there is almost no info about the building, including when it’s coming on the market, or what it’s like in there. You can see a few other examples of their neighborhood work on this South Slope blog, though it’s quite out of date. There’s still one active violation on file with the DOB, related to an elevator safety test. Who’s got more info? GMAP
