  1. I know a bit about this school since I posted the photo (Gabby do me a favor and in the future just put a note on my Flickr site so I can keep track of all my photo credits).

So Brownstoner already had some info on Boy’s HS.

The school dates 1891 and is in fact being used by a few small alternative schools. The inside of the school is also beautiful and if you want to see some photos take a look at my Flickr site

The architect was James Naughton. He was also the Superintendent of Buildings for Brooklyn and was the architect for Girls’ High School and P.S. 9 which have landmark status.

  2. This is one of the high schools in Brooklyn with a remarkable past in sports. The basketball, football and track teams were nationally ranked in the 1950’s and 1960’s. Basketball Hall of Famer Lenny Wilkins had a difficult time making the team in the 1950’s.

  3. The school is the “old” Boys High. My father went to this school in the late 50’s. He played basketball and was able to get a basketball scholarship for college – before he went into the service. He always speaks fondly of the school. It is now houses a small High School and is also used by a number of community organizations. It is a beautiful building that was restored not too long ago.
