I don’t love IKEA but that pop-up box thing is genius.
I cannot wait for Ikea.
Brownstoner, are you going to continue with the Ikea media blitz right up to the tragic opening day? As if we didn’t know already that you are really part of the problem masquerading as a pro-brooklyn blog.
I road down that way on saturday to see what was up. parking lot and roads look awesome. there’s actually a couple of traffic lights! security guards all around. can’t wait for the meatballs!

yesterday, i did notice a few new signs down near the Hamilton Avenue / BB tunnel area pointing the way towards IKEA.
I like that the studio apartment is called “Studio Apartment.” Ikea’s great and all, but it’s frustrating to shop in a store where bedspreads are called “Dahlbrugg” and bookshelves “Lenkii” or some such thing, instead of being labelled what they are.
And what, if any, provisions have been made for the tidal wave of traffic that will engulf Red Hook every weekend once the store is open?
do the ‘laps’ belong to hot babes?
Estate ready.
Edgy.
