Development Watch: Luquer Tower Tops Off
The 11-story Karl Fisher-designed building on Luquer Street between Clinton and the BQE is now at full height—which is to say, quite a bit taller than any surrounding buildings. Despite the fact that the building is poised to be the highest residential structure to rise in the area in several years, it hasn’t generated anywhere near the community opposition that’s greeted other projects, like 360 Smith and the Clarett Group’s endeavor on Court. The lack of outcry (OK, there has been some) probably has a lot to do with the fact that the building is so near the BQE and thus somewhat removed from Carroll Gardens’ main residential drags. One of the project’s developers project happened to be at the construction site when we were taking photos yesterday, and he said the building will definitely be a condo and he thinks it’ll be complete in about six months. Seems optimistic, though one never knows. A resident who lives across the street told us that the project hasn’t “taken the street hostage” and that workers have been pretty good about cleaning up messes.
