MulchFest 2008
This Saturday and Sunday, help the environment and recycle your Christmas tree. Parks and Recreations will ground trees into wood chips, which can be used in tree pits and gardens.. All lights, ornaments, and decorations must be removed from the trees prior to drop-off. Participants are encouraged to bring bags to take advantage of the free mulch provided. Check the website for a list of all locations. If you miss MulchFest, the Department of Sanitation will collect for composting clean holiday trees left at the curb through Wednesday, January 16, 2008.

FIDO Coffee Bark
This Saturday, from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m., Fellowship in the Interest of Dogs and Their Owners hosts their monthly event in Prospect Park. Pick up coffee, pastries, and dog biscuits, while learning about off-leash issues. Enter park at Ninth Street off Prospect Park West and proceed to the Long Meadow.

Target First Saturday
On Saturday, Brooklyn Museum holds its free monthly event, which includes performances by New Yorkbased group Ayyoub and Def Poetry Jam’s Suheir Hammad, a reading by Leila Buck from her play In the Crossing, and a screening and Lilly Rivlin-led discussion of her documentary Can You Hear Me?. Bitch Macbeth at The Brick
