Closing Bell: Facade Collapse in the Slope
Here’s something of a novelty: Potentially dangerous stuff falling off a building that doesn’t seem related to shoddy or unsafe conditions at a construction site. A small part of the façade of a building on 5th Avenue near Carroll Street crumbled last night (see photo on jump), leaving a big pile of rubble on the sidewalk. According to some bystanders who were on the scene this morning, the collapse happened at around 2 a.m., and no one was injured. In the meantime, cops have taped off the sidewalk around the debris and told us they’re waiting for the DOB to inspect the building and decide whether it needs to be vacated. GMAP
