Park Slope’s Twisted Firestarter Strikes Twice

6thstreetfire1.JPG
A vandal has started fires on 6th Street between 5th and 4th avenues twice in the past week. Both incidents occurred on the street’s garbage nights, according to people who live on the block. Last Wednesday, someone ignited garbage bags and completely wrecked the Subaru shown above. The building next to the car was filled with nasty smoke for most of Thursday, according to a resident. And last night a similar fire was started, though it doesn’t seem to have resulted in property damage (see singed sidewalk on jump). “That’s two garbage nights in a row,” said someone who lives on the block. “Clearly it’s becoming a problem.” Clearly.
