Brooklyn Philharmonic
The Brooklyn Philharmonic performs twice this weekend. On Friday, July 13, the orchestra presents “Baroque Meets Tango – 8 Seasons” at 7:30 p.m. at Brooklyn Bridge Park. The free performance features Vivaldi’s “Four Seasons” and Piazzola’s “Four Seasons of Buenos Aires.” The second performance takes place on Saturday, July 14, at the Prospect Park Bandshell at 8:00 p.m. as part of Celebrate Brooklyn. There is a suggested donation of $3 for the Prospect Park concert.

Electronics Recycling in Windsor Terrace
Bill de Blasio sponsors an electronics recycling event at Holy Name Church (241 Prospect Park West, Windsor Terrace) this weekend. For more info on what can be recycled, click here. Saturday, July 14th from 10am-4pm, Sunday, July 15th from 10am-4pm, and Monday, July 16th from 4pm-7pm.

Workshop: Avoid Foreclosure
On Saturday, July 14, Greater Allen AME Cathedral of New York will host a free workshop to educate the community regarding foreclosure, as well as choosing the proper mortgage. The workshop will be headed by mortgage and foreclosure experts who will review participant’s mortgage closing documents, educating them on their options and highlighting any points of concern. Big City, Big Trees
This Saturday, July 14, join the Brooklyn Botanical Garden (BBG) for “Big City, Big Trees: Gentle Giants of the Urban Landscape.” BBG arborists will present tree-climbing demonstrations, lead tours of BBG trees, and offer a children’s story circle, as well as special books and artifacts at the Gardener’s Resource Center. Strange Fruit: Swoon!
Australia’s Strange Fruit is a Melbourne-based open-air performing arts company that fuses theater, dance, and circus, using the unique elevated medium of sway poles. For their first U.S. tour, the Company will present Swoon!—a 20-minute performance where four daredevil Australians tell a story of love, loss, joy and freedom. The free performance will take place Saturday, July 14, on the lawn of the Empire-Fulton Ferry State Park section of the Brooklyn Bridge Park (4:00 p.m., 6:00 p.m., 8:00 p.m.).

Block Party Mural
This Saturday, July 14, help out on the 2nd Annual Block Party Mural in honor of the St. James Block Party. From 10:00 a.m. until dark, the collaborative community mural will be on the corner of Gates and St. James in Clinton Hill. There will be food and music. For questions, call (718) 930-7177.

Newton Creek Cruise
Cruise the boundary between Brooklyn and Queens and what was once the busiest waterway in the world. The Brooklyn Center for the Urban Environment sponsors the tour, led by Jack Eichenbaum. Bastille Day
