Just up the block from 255 1st Street, the development at 267-273 1st Street sits in suspended animation. We’re not sure exactly what the violation was, but it’s gotta be pretty serious: The project was slapped with a Stop Work Order in January and nothing’s happened since. BOROUGH COMMISSIONER HAS ISSUED A 10-DAY LETTER OF INTENT TOREVOKE APPLICATION #301505967 ON 1/2/07. ISSUE DOB STOP ORDER AND NOTETHE PERCENTAGE OF WORK COMPLETED SO FAR ON VIOLATION AND COMPLAINT.

One clue: This building, which has been in the works since 2003, is brought to you by the dynamic duo of Isaac Fischman (developer) and Robert Scarano (architect), who also teamed up on The Washington Condos in Prospect Heights. The smart money’s on some FAR shenanigans. Anyone know for sure?
