At Last, Red Hook’s Long-Awaited Traffic Light
Finally, Red Hook residents have received the traffic light they’ve been waiting for. The new traffic signal is located on the corner of Van Brunt and Sullivan Streets. It protects pedestrians from Fairway traffic on this busy intersection near a bus stop and a school. According to NY1 local motorists are happy about the light and so are pedestrians — and they wouldn’t mind a few more. “I think they really need some more traffic lights on Van Brunt, said Red Hook resident Jackie Thornton. The Department of Transportation doesn’t plan on installing any more traffic lights for now, but will conduct another traffic study if they are asked to do so.
