Farm-Fresh Produce Coming to Carroll Gardens

9csa.jpg
Great news for all the Carroll Gardens residents who’ve been schlepping all the way up Court Street to the Cobble Hill CSA for their weekly vegetable fix — Carroll Gardens is getting a CSA of its own this year, conveniently located at the Transit Garden on the corner of Smith Street and Second Place. For those who aren’t already involved — being a member of a CSA means that you buy a “share” of a farm’s produce which helps cover the anticipated costs of the farm operation and pays the farmer a living wage. In turn, members receive shares in the farm’s crops throughout the growing season…

The Carroll Gardens CSA is offering fruit, vegetable, flower, eggs, and combination shares from the Garden of Eve farm in Riverhead, Long Island. They offer a number of options that allow you to pick and choose which items you want — and you can even get a “half-share,” available for pick-up every other week. Pick-ups are on Saturdays from 10am to noon — which is especially exciting for those of us who work late during the week and look forward to cooking big meals on the weekends.

The Garden of Eden farm also does CSAs in Willamsburg, Brooklyn Heights and the Kensington Gardens/Prospect Heights/Midwood Area. Are members of those CSAs happy with their weekly harvests?

More details are available on the Garden of Eden website, but the email address listed there appears to be incorrect. For additional info, contact carrollgardenscsa [at] gmail.com.
