More Than A Tweak at 184 Kent

Curbed had the scoop yesterday on the future of the Austin Nichols warehouse at 184 Kent Avenue, the subject of last year’s nastiest Landmarks struggle. As readers know, the building was famously rejected as a “piece of trash” by one member of the City Council. If we can put aside our frustration over that decision and look at this design on a stand-alone basis, we have to say it looks pretty cool. Our greatest concern at the time was that the rooftop addition would be ungainly, but that doesn’t seem to be the case. Nor does the whole project look too Miami, a potential fear given the involvement of architecture firm Arquitectonica. What do others think?
