Just in case you were getting jealous that South Slope homeowners have all the fun, word from East 8th Street in Kensington that irresponsible contractors are alive and well on the other side of the cemetary as well. This particular house has been sitting in this condition for about three weeks, with debris sliding into neighboring yards. Not surprisingly, the contractor did not have a permit for mechanical demolition (he’s now removed the backhoe). Sound familiar? While this thing hangs in limbo, neighbors get to enjoy the view while contemplating the seven-story building (with 12 condo units and six parking spaces) that will soon be blending right in on the street of modest woodframe houses.
