Mosaic Building With Troubled Past Hits Market
We’ve been obsessed with the mosaic tile building on the corner of Adelphi and Greene since we first moved to the area. We’ve never gotten a satisfactory explanation of how or why the building came to be covered in thousands of mosaic tiles — one of the few examples of an interesting alteration of a brownstone facade in the pre-Landmark era. After years of vacate orders and tax liens, however, the building is finally on the market. We were unable to find any info on the Massey Knakal website but look forward to details emerging.
