A recent post on Joyce Cohen’s new blog, Hunt Grunt, drew our attention to the New Yorker’s latest Talk of the Town piece that continues its fascination with both Brooklyn and brownstones. The article documents the visit of Victorian Flatbush’s Queen Bee Mary Kay Gallagher and her book club to the recently renovated brownstone of author John Berendt. While the purpose of the evening was to discuss Berendt’s recent book, The City of Falling Angels (which we devoured over the holidays), like most social events, people’s attention inevitably shifted to a state of jealous voyeurism as they ended the evening with a tour of the well-appointed home.
