Skimming the Hallway

hallwork_01%20bstoner.jpg

Pretty clear - here comes a layer of structolite to help smooth things out, next comes the layer of plaster.

Exactly, how did you go about the skimming. We need to skim our hallways and I wanted more info.

thanks

Yes, please share. My hallway looks like upper left photo and I want it to look like lower right...

ok, we have help from our neighborhood plaster guy who is hard to nail down for work, but when he does work, he's great. That being said, the hallway at this point still needs a last coat of plaster, and the guy is nowhere to be found.

What happens is this - first a rough coat of structo-lite with some loose plaster mixed in goes up over the nasty outer layer of the wall. This is followed up by compound with loose plaster mixed in, and then likely one or two more coats of the same.

The guy is really talented, and his final coat requires very little sanding. However, he has no phone, no email, and when he disappears, he's gone for weeks. It's not always clear that he really exists.
